StumbleUpon.com is a collaborative community and website "directory". To participate, members (or "stumblers"), visit websites by clicking "Stumble!" on a special toolbar that they can download for their browser from the StumbleUpon website. Once a stumbler has clicked the button, they are taken to a website that matches interests that they have entered previously. The "catch" is that stumblers are only taken to websites that other stumblers have added to the SU directory by clicking the "Thumbs Up" button.

When a person signs up to become a stumbler they get a profile as well as the ability to add friends and find like-minded people based on common interests and things they like. Stumblers also have a huge range of StumbleUpon mini-forums which they can join and participate in as well as the option to send messages to individual users.
